Jim Carrey plays Carl Allen, a man who feels that his life has come to a complete standstill. That all changes one day when he enrolls into a personal development program where participants are told that the answer to everything is YES!

And so … Carl decides to take this new meaning of life to the test and starts saying “yes” to everything and everyone. He soon finds out that his new way is a blessing and opens up a lot of doors that were closed before.
For awhile … everything is jolly and Carl enjoys his discovery to the fullest. It isn’t before long, however, that Carl starts to understand that not all “yes-es” are created equal and there are things that no man should ever agree to …

The fictional band Munchausen By Proxy featured in the film is named after the Münchausen syndrome by proxy, which is a psychological disorder, and is composed of actress/singer/songwriter Zooey Deschanel and the real-life band Von Iva, which got the part after music supervisor Jonathan Karp saw the cover of their CD in Amoeba, in Hollywood. On Lakeshore Records’ soundtrack release they are credited as “Munchausen by Proxy featuring Zooey Deschanel & Von Iva”.
