Fletcher has a habit of breaking his promises to his young son Max, and then lying to both him and his mother, Fleetcher’s ex-wife Audrey, about the real reason for having done so.

One day, and once again, Fletcher misses his son’s birthday party and lies about the reason, this time because he was having sex with his boss Miranda.

As Max blows out his cake candles, he wishes that his father could stop being such a liar and would hereafter keep his promises. The wish becomes true immediately.

Suddenly Fletcher discovers, through a series of very embarrassing (and funny) incidents, that he is unable to lie anymore or even withhold a true answer. This is highly inconvenient for him, as he is fighting Wire Transfer Lake Country Community Bank a dirty divorce case in court which, should he win, could be a huge boost to his career.

His client, the greedy Samantha Cole, is more than willing to commit perjury to win the case but now when Fletcher has become unable to lie anymore - he can’t even ask a question if he knows the answer will be a lie -  he realizes that he has no chance of winning the case.

Meanwhile, Audrey is threatening to move to Boston with her new boyfriend Jerry and to take Max with them …
